![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The most common place to find a Lua virus is in the model and plugin category of the toolbox. More advanced malicious plugins can even communicate with certain applications if they're not properly secured. Lua viruses are relatively harmless, however, some have been known to take control of games and insert inappropriate imagery as a form of ransomware, which can lead to terminating your Roblox account. Motives for viruses vary, from demanding Robux, to sabotaging a game's core mechanics, to demanding free models being bought, to just no reason at all. Different methods for infecting are used, such as by spreading a “Fire” object to every part, unanchoring everything in the game, or infecting every part with a script that is very tricky to remove. Lua virus writers use free models and plugins as a drive-by-attack to infect games. When this replication succeeds, the affected areas are then said to be "infected" with a virus. In Roblox, a Lua virus is a type of malicious script that, when executed, replicates itself by modifying other parts and inserting its own code. ![]()
